Flores Island is one of the lesser Sunda Islands, a group of islands in the eastern half of Indonesia. The population was 1.831.000 in the 2010 census.
And the largest town is Maumere.
The name “Flores” : is derived from the Portuguese for “Flower”
Among all islands containing Indonesian Territory. Flores is the 10th most populous after Java, Sumatera, Borneo (Kalimantan), Sulawesi, Papua, Bali, Madura, Lombok, and Timor, and also 10th biggest island of Indonesia.
MAUMERE
Maumere is a port town on the northeastern coast of Flores, and is a biggest town with population around 350.000 people on last census.
The bay of Maumere is considered a good dive spot. Most of the tourist choose an airport Maumere for the starting point to travel overland through Flores to Labuan Bajo and Komodo Island.

Labuan Bajo is the capital of west Manggarai regency, now turned into a busy spot because of the divers and the increased number of Komodo National Park visitors. Labuan Bajo also a perfect gateway to explore the island at Komodo National Park.
KOMODO NATIONAL PARK
Komodo National Park is a home for unique and rare Komodo Dragon (Varanus Komodoensis). With a local charter boat you can also engage in other activities such as dive and snorkeling or island hop to the others islands around the National Park area.
